Yotaro Takemura
竹村 陽太郎

Yotaro Takemura grew up in an environment shaped by ceramics. His father, a ceramic artist, develops his own glazes from natural ash made from plants and wood, embracing a practice in which the final color cannot be fully known until the firing is complete. While this sensitivity to material and fire forms an important foundation, Takemura’s path has not been one of simple succession. After initially working as a company employee, he returned to ceramics in his late twenties and committed himself to becoming an independent artist. His decision marked not merely a continuation of tradition, but a deliberate pursuit of a personal visual language.
